“Krebs and her band sound like no one else in today´s jazz world.” – John Sanders/Jazz Music Archives
A native of Baltimore, now longtime citizen of Los Angeles, Susan has been an actor and theater improviser for many years (Film: 28 Days; TV: Mad Men, Shameless; Improv: War Babies, the Wims) but her passion has always been for the music, performing at venues such as Vitellos, LACMA, Blue Whale — as well as in theaters and living rooms with her jazz salon, ThemeScene.
Following her critically acclaimed multimedia concert and recording project, JAZZ AVIARY ~
a Celebration of Birds & the Universal Music We Share,
and working again with her longtime collaborators, Rich Eames and Jerry Kalaf, the Susan Krebs Band released Everything Must Change in 2012, featuring Chuck Manning.
Her most recent recording project “simple gifts” with the Susan Krebs Chamber Band, born and raised within their many intimate salons, was released in 2015.
An avid gardener and bird lover, Krebs says her work is “about the art of becoming – whether working with plants or music or with oneself – to dig down, to cultivate, to encourage growth, to thrive and flourish, and eventually to let go and begin the cycle anew.”
“simple gifts” is a true musical collaboration imbued with Krebs’ spirit and vision. >>
