The SLO County Jazz Federation is pleased to present in concert two time Grammy Award-winning jazz violinist Mads Tolling in a duo with the stellar guitarist Jacob Fischer on Saturday night October 20 at the Unity Concert Hall.
The Danish born Mads was an integral part of the Turtle Island String Quartet and the Stanley Clark Band. He’s played with many jazz greats including Chick Corea, Ramsey Lewis, Paquito D’Rivera and Kenny Barron. In 2016 he was named as the most promising young jazz violinist in the Downbeat Magazine Critics Poll. Jacob Fischer has played with numerous international stars including Toots Thielesmans, Art Farmer, Lee Konitz and John Abercrombie.
This concert is dedicated to the Danish virtuoso violinist Svend Asmussen who passed away last year at the age of 100. A legend in Denmark, Svend played and recorded with Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Lionel Hampton, Jean Luc Ponty and Stephane Grapelli.
